MSD6202 Ultra 6A Ignition Boxes

A new processor and board design helps provide an ignition control that is 60% smaller and 50% lighter than the Digital 6A, yet delivers 135-150mj for every firing, from idle to redline RPM, while multiple sparks improve performance and ensure complete combustion. Highly efficient and packed with maximum spark energy, ignition is compatible with any 4-, 6-, or 8-cylinder engine with a distributor.

MSD Ultra 6A Ignition Boxes

MSD Ultra 6A Series ignition boxes continue to use a high-speed controller that can make extremely quick compensations to the output voltage, multiple spark series, timing and rpm limits—while maintaining precise timing and accurate rev limiting. The circuits and controller of the MSD have been thoroughly filtered to create protection against Electro Magnetic Interference (EMI).

The Ultra 6A Series features a capacitive discharge ignition design. The majority of stock ignition systems are inductive ignitions. In an inductive ignition, the coil must store and step up the voltage to maximum strength in between each firing. At higher rpm, since there is less time to charge the coil to full capacity, the voltage falls short of reaching maximum energy—which results in a loss of power or top end miss.

Product features:

* Plug-and-play upgrade to current installations with a 6201, MSD 6A
* New processor and board design provide a highly efficient ignition, minimal heat and max spark energy with less current draw
* 60 percent smaller and 50 percent lighter than the MSD Digital 6A (688 grams vs 344 grams)
* High-RPM operation and maximum output using the Blaster HVC, PN 8252 or HVC II, PN 8253
* Powerful capacitive discharge of multiple sparks improves performance, and ensure complete combustion
* Consistently high spark energy of 135mJ to 150mJ for every firing, from idle to redline rpm
* Easily installs on 4, 6, 8-cylinder engines with distributors
* Operates on most 7 to 28 V electrical systems
* Connects to points and magnetic pickups
* Fully protected against an open coil, shorted coil and open load
* Compact design; full MSD power
* Quickens throttle response and improves starting
* Tach output to drive an external tachometer
